HIV ALLERT

 

The human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is a lentivirus (a subgroup of retrovirus) that causes the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS),[1][2] a condition in humans in which progressive failure of the immune system allows life-threatening opportunistic infections and cancers to thrive. Without treatment, average survival time after infection with HIV is estimated to be 9 to 11 years, depending on the HIV subtype.[3] Infection with HIV occurs by the transfer of blood, semen, vaginal fluid, pre-ejaculate, or breast milk. Within these bodily fluids, HIV is present as both free virus particles and virus within infected immune cells.
HIV infects vital cells in the human immune system such as helper T cells (specificallyCD4+ T cells), macrophages, and dendritic cells.[4] HIV infection leads to low levels ofCD4+ T cells through a number of mechanisms, including apoptosis of uninfected bystander cells,[5] direct viral killing of infected cells, and killing of infected CD4+ T cells by CD8 cytotoxic lymphocytes that recognize infected cells.[6] When CD4+ T cell numbers decline below a critical level, cell-mediated immunity is lost, and the body becomes progressively more susceptible to opportunistic infections.
DAVAO Region is among the five regions with most number of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) cases in the country for November 2014, according to the Department of Health (DOH).
The other four regions are Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Central Visayas and Central Luzon.
The DOH reported that the country has 492 new cases of HIV recorded in November this year.
Data showed that 40 of the 492 cases have led to AIDS.
The latest tally of 492 new cases is 28 percent higher compared to the 384 cases reported in the same period last year.
It also showed that there are more males inflicted with HIV in November with 474 (96 percent).
Records also showed that there are a total of 5,502 HIV cases from January to November 2014 and 22,018 cases from 1984-2014.

    prevention is better than cure.. people should be more careful on what they are doing. think before you do!

    use condom when you having sex to avoid it.

    don't inject drugs to avoid HIV . and avoid number of sex. .

    One ring/condom could could provide protection against HIV for a month or longer.
    Because the ring is long-acting, it may help women use it consistently and help ensure effectiveness.

    Once infected with HIV an individual is said to be HIV positive a condition which persists throughout their life. As the virus remains dormant for about 8 years, on average, an HIV positive person does not suffer any symptoms during this period but can act as a carrier often unwittingly spreading the disease.
